The South African music industry is mourning the tragic loss of Yolanda “Yallunder” Nyembezi, a rising Amapiano and Soulful vocalist. Her family has officially confirmed her passing and shared details about the cause of her death.

Family Statement and Cause of DeathIn an emotional statement released by her family, they confirmed that Yallunder passed away on March 13, 2025, at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital after battling a long illness. The statement read:

“It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Yolanda Nyembezi, known to the world as Yallunder. A soul so rare and a voice so rich, Yolanda graced this earth with a spirit that was as warm as it was powerful. Born and raised in Bizana, Eastern Cape, on August 23, 1994, she was not only a gifted singer and songwriter but also a classically trained, cum laude graduate in vocal pedagogy, an artist whose talent was as undeniable as her passion for music.”

“Yolanda fought bravely through months of illness, holding onto life with resilience and grace until her final bow. Her journey was one of unwavering strength, and even in her most vulnerable moments, she remained a beacon of love, kindness, and artistry.”

Her family expressed their gratitude for the love and support she received from fans, and they will share details regarding her memorial and funeral arrangements soon.

Yallunder made a significant impact in the Amapiano and Soulful music scene with her powerful, heartfelt vocals. In 2023, she captivated audiences with her feature on Kelvin Momo and Stixx’s ‘Uku Khanya’. She later released ‘Langa’elihle’ alongside Kelvin Momo, Babalwa M, and Sia Mzizi, a song that amassed over 5 million streams.

One of her most notable contributions was her mesmerizing performance on ‘Intyatyambo’ with Kelvin Momo and Babalwa M, a song that became a standout hit on the Ntsako album.
