The City of Ekurhuleni is found in the heart of the Gauteng province in South Africa, and set to be the first Aerotropolis in Africa. Spread over 15.6% of Gauteng’s land, it houses 5.4% of the country’s population and 29% of Gauteng province’s population.
Key performance areas:
- To drive the overall optimisation of the Communications, Marketing & Tourism value chain through effective strategic planning, directing and alignment of functional management frameworks and operational delivery.
- Develop and manage a communication and brand management framework that establishes and aligns the service delivery value chain and organisational needs with brand architecture, communication strategy and the City’s vision
- Develop, plan, implement and drive a Communication and Branding Management strategy in response to the overall strategy
- Render effective direction in terms of the development, implementation and governance of media strategies across the organisation
- Initiate and guide the management of consumer marketing research quantitative analysis, ensuring sustainability and growth
- Ensure effective marketing and communication integration and governance through correct brand positioning, selection and management of service providers
- Ensure effective financial management, control and corporate governance throughout area of accountability
- Drive an aligned client service excellence culture which builds enduring rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service
- Lead and manage direct and indirect teams by providing context, setting performance standards and educating on process, quality and policy
Core Requirements:
- Postgraduate Degree in Marketing or Communications or Digital Business or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
- 10+ years’ management experience in a service delivery environment, of which at least 5 years should have been at Senior Management level
- Leadership capability with a proven track record in a complex service delivery operational environment
- Highly creative/innovative thinker
- Analytical and tactical thinker
- Excellent writing skills (press releases, annual reports)
- Knowledge of the basic tenets of marketing and communication
- The ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
