Eskom Holdings generates, transports and distributes approximately 95% of South Africa’s electricity – making up 60% of the total electricity consumed on the African continent. Eskom is the world’s eleventh-largest power utility in terms of generating capacity, ranks ninth in terms of sales, and boasts the world's largest dry-cooling power station.

Eskom is offering opportunities for Electrical Apprentices in both Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZNOU) and Free State regions, with a total of 10 apprenticeships available in each area. These positions are part of Eskom’s Artisan Training Programme, specifically within the Electrical Heavy Current discipline. The apprentices will undergo a 3-year training program that includes both institutionalized and on-the-job training, ultimately leading to a Trade Test certificate.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with:
    • Maths 50%
    • Physical Science 50%
    • English 40%
  • OR N3 (HC) Engineering with the same subject requirements (Maths 50%, Physical Science 50%, and English 40%)
  • OR NCV Level 4 with the same subject requirements.
