Grimes Urges Elon Musk to Keep Their Kids Off the Internet

By | March 17, 2025

Grimes has publicly pleaded with Elon Musk to keep their three children out of the spotlight after he brought their 4-year-old son to a White House press briefing last month.

The Canadian singer, 36, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, expressing her frustration over her children’s exposure online.

“I have tried begging the public and my kids’ dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse,” she wrote. “I’ve seen young people destroyed by the internet … The state of my children’s lives being public is of grave concern to me, and I think about how to solve this every day.”

She further lamented the lack of legal protections, saying, “It’s insane to me that there’s no way to deal with this … I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives, but I don’t even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it.”

Grimes and Musk share three children: X Æ A-XII, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno Mechanicus, 1.

Her latest comments come after she criticized Musk, 53, in February for bringing their son X Æ A-XII to a press conference with then-President Donald Trump. Musk carried the child on his shoulders while Trump signed an executive order benefiting the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk oversees.

Grimes claimed she was unaware of her son’s attendance until a fan flagged the photos. “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank you for alerting me,” she wrote at the time.

That same month, she also accused Musk of ignoring a “medical crisis” involving one of their children.

The former couple, who were together from 2018 to 2022, have been engaged in legal battles over parental rights, filing lawsuits against each other in October 2023.
