MotoGP rookie Ai Ogura has been disqualified from the Argentina Grand Prix after his Trackhouse Racing Aprilia was found to be running non-approved software. The decision strips the Japanese rider of his hard-earned eighth-place finish and the eight championship points that came with it.
A statement from the race stewards at Termas de Rio Hondo confirmed that Ogura’s bike was using an unauthorized software version (V21 b102), violating Article 2.4.3.5.3 of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Regulations.
Unexpected Boost for Trackhouse Teammate
While Ogura’s disqualification is a major setback, it unexpectedly benefits his struggling teammate, Raúl Fernández. With Ogura removed from the results, Fernández moves up to 15th place, securing his first championship point of the season.
Strong Start Despite Setback
Despite the disappointment in Argentina, Ogura has impressed in his MotoGP debut season after stepping up from Moto2. He finished fifth in the Thai Grand Prix and claimed fourth in the sprint race that same weekend. His strong performances in Asia mean he remains eighth in the overall standings despite leaving Argentina without points.
