What is Eskom?

Eskom Holdings’ Enterprises Division designs, builds and refurbishes Eskom’s assets, and acts as a catalyst for project development for the group. Eskom Enterprises’ main focus is to support Eskom Holdings and be the custodian of non-regulated businesses and offer strategic and commercial lifecycle services to the line divisions. Eskom Holdings generates, transports and distributes approximately 95% of South Africa’s electricity – making up 60% of the total electricity consumed on the African continent. Eskom is the world’s eleventh-largest power utility in terms of generating capacity, ranks ninth in terms of sales, and boasts the world’s largest dry-cooling power station.

Minimum Requirements:

• Disability: Must be a South African citizen living with a disability.
• Age: Between 18 to 34 years.
• Education: Must have completed Grade 12 with Mathematics, Accounting, Physical Science, and English.

Selection Criteria:

• Employment History: Should not have been employed permanently with a single employer for more than 1 year.
• Education Status: Should not be studying full-time in the year of employment.
• Previous Participation: Should not have participated in or registered for the YES initiative before.

Successful applicants will undergo a recruitment process, and if selected, will be placed in Eskom Operations across the Central East Cluster in KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment.
• Gain valuable work experience in the energy industry with a 12-month contract.
• Potential placement in one of the following departments:
• Human Resources
• Finance
• Maintenance & Operations
• Business Enablement
• Asset Creation
• Customer Services
